The scam involves the setup of a numbered transfer system and voice mails left claim to be by an OCSO detective advising the recipient that they have active warrants and must pay a fine by purchasing Google Play or iTunes card or face jail time, said OCSO.

The sheriff advises everyone to not give the caller any money and to report it to Ohio County Central Dispatch at (270) 298-4411.
