Burglary ChurchOHIO COUNTY, Ky. (7/19/19) — Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred this week at Pleasant Grove Church off Askins Road in Fordsville.

Sheriff Tracy Beatty said in a press release someone pried open a window and ransacked the building, destroying several items. Food and drinks along with a Bible belonging to a youth member were reported stolen.

“Food and drinks were opened from the kitchen area and poured throughout the church,” the sheriff stated. “Thermostats from the HVAC units were damaged by pouring juice into them. Vases and picture frames were broken; holes were knocked in the walls. Items in the offices were taken from desks and thrown around the room. The women's bathroom had been used, Popsicle sticks were on the floor as well as spray painting on the wall. The fire extinguisher had been pulled from the wall and discharged inside of the church. The door to the crawlspace had also been removed from the outside of the church. The rear door outside wall light had been smashed with a concrete cinder block. A shed located behind the church had a master style lock pried off of the door causing damage to the shed. Other than food and drinks, the only other item believed to have been taken at the time of the report was a bible that belonged to a youth member of the church. The name 'Grayson' is inscribed on the bible.”

OCSO believes the culprits entered the church sometime overnight Wednesday.

Beatty reported a neighbor near the church saw a small person walking north on Adkins Road wearing military-style desert camouflage clothing and had a backpack around 6:30 a.m. Another person in the area saw two people walking on Kentucky 110 across the Breckenridge County line. One person was wearing a black baseball hat with longer hair, a maroon cutoff shirt and black shorts. The other person was wearing a black shirt and shorts. They were picked up by someone driving a navy blue four-door truck.

Anyone with information related to the investigation at Pleasant Grove Church is asked to call OCSO at (270) 298-4444 or the anonymous tip line at (270) 298-4446.
