arrested handcuffs blue 300WHEATCROFT, Ky. (2/12/16) — A Webster County man and a Union County man have been charged with multiple offenses after a vehicle pursuit with Kentucky State Police.

According to a KSP report, Trooper Cody Kromer initiated a traffic stop for speeding on a vehicle at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 on Kentucky 109 in Wheatcroft. As the trooper exited his vehicle and approached the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

The report said the pursuit continued for approximately 10 miles until the suspect vehicle turned onto Kentucky 132 West, where the Webster County Sheriff's Office had blocked the road with a cruiser. The suspect vehicle then came to a stop and the operator exited the vehicle. However, he would not comply with officers' commands. After he was subdued, he was taken into custody. The passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.

KSP charged the driver, Brian A. Perkins, 27, Providence with speeding 26 MPH or more above the speed limit, reckless driving, resisting arrest, DUI with aggravated circumstances – first offense, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance/meth – first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree fleeing/evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree possession of a controlled substance – first offense.

The passenger, Jonathan L. Willett, 21, Morganfield, was charged with public intoxication, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – first offense and first-degree promoting contraband.

Both are being lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.
