map300 websterWEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (10/2/18) — Webster Fiscal Court is the award recipient of a $65,700 grant from the Local Government Economic Development Fund/Single County Coal Severance.

The funds will be used to purchase two four-wheel drive Ford Explorers, radios, lights and equipment for the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Kentucky Department for Local Government reported today.

“These vehicles will allow law enforcement in Webster County to have increased access to safe and reliable transportation, which is critical to public safety,” DLG Commissioner Sandra K. Dunahoo said in a statement. “I’m pleased that we could work with legislators and local officials to award these funds.”

“It’s important that law enforcement officers have the equipment they need to safely and successfully protect the public,” Sen. Dorsey Ridley said. “That includes vehicles that are up-to-date and compatible with the nature of the department’s work. This is an important and welcome investment and I am happy I was able to assist in obtaining funding.”

Awards from the LGEDF/Single County Coal Severance are made under the parameters of HB 200, which appropriated coal severance funds for projects that have the concurrence of the respective county judge-executive and state legislators. Funds are administered by DLG, an arm of the Office of the Governor dedicated to supporting local officials and communities. For more information, visit
