map300 websterWEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (6/17/19) —  Webster County Judge Executive Steve Henry announced the county will host a public grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Webster County Senior Citizens Center at 80 N. College St. in Dixon 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Until now, the senior citizens program has been operating in the bottom floor of the old Dixon High School, Webster County Spokeswoman Summer Crick reported. When Henry took office, he began working with county and regional officials to secure the funding needed to give the program a home of its own.

The building was previously home to the Webster County Ambulance Service and has been completely transformed to meet the needs of the county’s seniors, Crick said. The building features a full warming kitchen, space for community meetings, crafts, exercise, meetings, and more and will be wheelchair accessible.

“We are more than excited for the opening of the new Webster County Senior Citizen Center," Henry said in a statement."It’ll be an extraordinary resource for our county and its citizens. This will be a chance for our county to show appreciation for those residents who have spent their lives making Webster County the place it is today. The center will be staffed with quality employees who truly care about our senior citizens and I cannot thank them and everyone involved in this process enough for ensuring this project comes to fruition.”

More information about the center can be found at www.WeAreWebCo.com and on the center’s Facebook page - @WebsterCountySeniorCenter, as well as by calling the center directly at 270-639-5394.
