PaytonPROVIDENCE, Ky. (2/13/20) — A 44-year-old Bremen man faces a drug charge following a Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force two-week investigation.

Authorities reported receiving complaints concerning heavy traffic coming in and out of a residence off U.S. 41-A in Nebo, where the alleged drug salesman was staying.

PNTF reported detectives along with Providence Police Department officers conducted an undercover drug purchase Tuesday at a parking lot off U.S. 41-A and Kentucky 120 in Providence.

The transaction involved approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine, according to the report. As Jeremy Wade Payton attempted to drive off from the area, Providence Police Chief Todd Jones made a traffic stop.

During an interview with Payton, detectives revealed hearing that a female identified as Brittney Wells, also known as Brittney D. Riley, was residing at the Nebo residence in nearby Hopkins County. Riley was reported to have active warrants.

PNTF reported its detectives called Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office for assistance to approach the home in Nebo. As authorities arrived at the residence, a vehicle was pulling out. Riley, 25 of Mortons Gap, was in the passenger seat, while Graden Daniel Williams, 28 of Hopkinsville, was behind the wheel.

Authorities said “a quantity of meth was located in the vehicle,” along with drug paraphernalia and a set of scales that Riley was sitting on. William and Riley were charged with drug possession and Riley was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Payton was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth) and taken to Webster County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, PNTF indicated. The DEA assisted.
