DCOWENSBORO, Ky. (1/25/20) — Productive Daviess County pulled away to defeat visiting Owensboro 54-35 in a 9th District girls' basketball game on Friday.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 8-11 overall and 2-1 in the 9th District.

Owensboro dropped to 5-14 overall and 1-3 in the district with the loss.

Host Daviess County set the tone early, outscoring Owensboro 17-2 in the first quarter. Dominant Daviess County outscored Owensboro 13-7 in the second quarter to lead 30-9 at halftime.

Katie Mewes led a balanced Daviess County offensive effort with 11 points. Accompanying Mewes in double figures in scoring for the Lady Panthers, Adylan Ayer added 10 points.

Narrowly missing double figures in scoring for Daviess County, Druree Glenn netted nine points.

A'Lyrica Hughes paced Owensboro, scoring a game-high 20 points for the Lady Devils. Hughes was the only Owensboro player to reach double figures in scoring.
